Services & Specializations
What services does Anchor Point offer?
Anchor Point is a group therapy practice offering individual psychotherapy with a clinical focus on trauma-informed care, integrative approaches, and evidence-based treatment. Our clinicians work with adolescents, adults, and families addressing a range of presenting concerns.
What clinical approaches do your therapists use?
Our clinicians practice from an integrative perspective, drawing on multiple evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), somatic approaches, attachment-informed work, and trauma-focused interventions. Each clinician tailors their approach to the individual needs and preferences of their clients.
Do you specialize in particular issues or populations?
Our clinical team brings specialized expertise across several areas, including trauma and trauma recovery, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship dynamics, anxiety, depression, and behavioral health. We work with adolescents, emerging adults, and adults. If you have questions about whether we're a good fit for your specific needs, please contact us directly.
Do you offer teletherapy?
Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our Bloomingdale office and secure virtual sessions. You can discuss your preference with your clinician during your initial consultation.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Anchor Point is an in-network provider for BCBS PPO (Blue Cross Blue Shield) plans. We accept private insurance and private pay. If you have questions about your specific plan or coverage, please call us before scheduling.
What if I have a different insurance plan?
Even if your insurance is not listed, we encourage you to contact us. We can provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Out-of-network rates and coverage vary by plan.
What are your session fees?
Please contact Anchor Point directly for current fee information. Our business team can discuss rates, insurance benefits, and payment options with you.
Do you offer sliding scale fees or payment plans?
Please inquire directly. We work with clients on an individual basis to discuss financial needs and possible arrangements.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit, ACH, and check. Our business team will provide details about payment processing when you schedule.
Scheduling & Getting Started
How do I schedule an appointment?
Contact our office to discuss your needs and find a clinician who is a good match. We'll work with you to find a time that fits your schedule. You can reach us by phone or email—details are on our contact page.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Wait times vary depending on clinician availability and scheduling needs. We do our best to accommodate new clients as quickly as possible. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
What should I expect at my first session?
Your first session is a chance for you and your clinician to get to know each other and assess whether it's a good fit. Expect to discuss what brings you in, your history and background, and what you hope to work on. Your clinician will also explain how therapy works, answer your questions, and outline next steps if you decide to continue.
Do I need to fill out forms before my first appointment?
Yes. We'll send you intake paperwork to complete before your first session. This helps us gather important information about your health history and ensures we're prepared to work with you effectively.
Can I change therapists if it's not a good fit?
Of course. Finding the right therapeutic match matters. If you feel that your clinician isn't the best fit, please let us know and we'll discuss options, including connecting you with a different therapist in our practice if one is available.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Is my therapy session confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by therapist-client privilege and federal privacy laws (HIPAA). Your clinician cannot share information about you with anyone without your written consent, with limited exceptions outlined by law (such as imminent danger to yourself or others, or abuse of a minor).
What about my privacy and my records?
Your clinical records are kept secure and are only accessible to your clinician and our office staff who need them for treatment or administrative purposes. You have the right to request copies of your records. Our practice follows all HIPAA regulations to protect your privacy.
What information do you share with insurance companies?
When you use insurance, we share basic information with your insurer—including your diagnosis, treatment dates, and type of service—to process your claim. We share only what's necessary. You can request details about what we've submitted on your behalf.
Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are typically subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.
What if I miss an appointment?
No-shows are subject to a fee. We understand that life happens, but missed appointments affect your clinician's ability to serve other clients. If you're struggling to attend sessions, please let your clinician know so we can problem-solve together.
How long is a typical therapy session?
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes, with time built in for documentation and administrative needs. Your clinician will confirm the session length during your first appointment.
How often do clients typically meet?
The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and goals. Many clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others meet bi-weekly. Your clinician will discuss what makes sense for your situation and adjust as needed.
What happens if I need to take a break from therapy?
Therapy is flexible. If you need to pause or need a break, please discuss it with your clinician. We can talk about your reasons and work together to decide what's best for you. You're always welcome to return when you're ready.
